A pinch of salt

Everything passes. It has to.

A letter to myself from an older me…

Oh, and the flowers will wilt
And “true” love will fade
And in the years to come
A lifetime of mistakes will be made

Still, don’t look in the mirror
And ever doubt your worth
From the ashes of your errors
Valuable lessons will come forth

These worries mean nothing
There are bigger battles to be fought
Don’t bow down to convention
You are stronger than you thought

When nothing goes your way
And you are plunged to new lows
Grab life by the horns
You can deal with its blows

What you value most today
May someday lose all meaning
But live every moment to the brim
As long as your heart is beating

When your soul is weary
And your conviction is gone
Don’t put down your arms yet, my dear
It’s always darkest before the dawn…
