Life – With a pinch of salt

Everything passes. It has to. That's the beauty and tragedy of it.

The Interloper…

She came one day, in the blink of an eye
Like the simple batting of eyelashes,
Wanting to blend in, to make it count
Natural, adaptive, like sight itself…
But then, the inevitable always happens
And the unpalatable truth is out –
Eyelashes don’t really help you see
All they do is once in a while
Let pesky teardrops cling on
Carrying the burden of memories
Unwelcome, agonizing vestiges
Of illusory joys of a flimsy past.
And when you push them away
They tend to get in your eyes
As intruders, driving you nuts
Until they are cast out by force
With a meager blow away wish
Of alternate, impossible realities…
